Des says, “I've been a member for 17 years, a volunteer for 16 years, I was a staff member for 10 years, a trustee for 3 years and chair for 6 months (when the meeting takes place). I was one of the 5 founding members of the Metropolitan Walkers in 2000 and have seen the membership go from 5 to 1000 and now 850+ following the creation of Capital Walkers. I worked as a footpath campaigner and currently blog for the Ramblers as walking class hero. In my day job these days I work for the RSPB.” Des is happy to take questions at the AGM. These can be sent direct to Des by Email beforehand. Des will also be on the 10.30am Short walk, 5miles, led by David Yeomans and Thea Young and is looking forward to meeting members on the walk where people can also put their questions to him. The AGM is being held at Weedon Village Hall, West Street, Weedon, Northants, NN7 4 QU. The plan of the day is: 9.00am Village Hall open 9.30am Long walk,9miles, start, led by Gill and Ken Bryan, tel: 01327 340191 10.30am Short walk, 5miles, led by David Yeomans and Thea Young: tel 01327 300394, accompanied by DES GARRAHAN 13.30-14.00pm, Refreshments in Village Hall 14.00pm AGM Meeting start 16.30pm Meeting close.
